Located on a spectacular hilltop site outside the city of Temecula, the Rubinfeld residence responds to very specific aesthetic and functional requirements. A couple, with three grown children, wanted a house that would be both an intimate retirement home and a suitable venue for large family gatherings. Conceptually, the house functions as a small, private hotel with ample spaces for entertainment: spacious living and dining areas, expansive terraces, a private screening room and a pool. A large master suite offers a more intimate retreat when the couple is there alone.
The layout of the house was designed around the spectacular mountain views and the balmy, coastal winds. Our intention was to create a powerful interaction between the house and its setting: the architecture is everywhere enhanced by the sun, the wind, the shade and the surrounding landscape.
